Job description
We're hiring the owner of legal judgement for Apliteni - the person whose call is final on "what the law requires and whether the company's action is legally permissible." This is a role with real authority: you develop the company's legal positions and carry them yourself.
Responsibilities
- Final decision on legal correctness — whether an action, document, or scenario is compliant.
- Handle LEA requests independently from receipt to response.
- Manage regulator correspondence without intermediate sign-off.
- Determine whether a given law applies to Apliteni.
- Conduct final KYC/AML conclusions.
- Make final decisions on sanctions screening.
- Own knowledge of how regulators apply the law and advise the team.
Requirements
- Real, hands-on legal expertise in a software/tech company under EU sanctions & data protection regimes.
- EU/Estonian legal grounding.
- Depth in at least two of: GDPR/data protection, sanctions (OFAC/EU), AML/KYC.
- Experience dealing with regulators.
- Comfort owning the final call and signing it.
- Fluent English.
