Job description
Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.
We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like Mastercard, Visa, Robinhood, and PayPal.
Responsibilities
### What you’ll do
- Own and run defined EU compliance operations workstreams for PIE (e.g., AML/CFT operations oversight, onboarding flows, sanctions and PEP screening, transaction and blockchain monitoring, specific FIN‑FSA/BoF reports, FATCA or other EU reporting, internal trackers and calendars), ensuring that filings and control activities are timely, accurate, well‑supported and consistently documented for audit/regulatory review.
- Provide second‑line oversight of AML/CFT operations executed by global Compliance Operations (and relevant vendors): monitor queue health, backlogs, and SLA/KPI performance for onboarding, screening, transaction monitoring, investigations and customer refresh/EDD; partner with Ops leads to identify control gaps, implement remediations, and track QA/QC findings through to closure.
- Lead the preparation, coordination and quality‑control of selected regulatory reports, filings and information packages (for example, SAR/STR, FIN‑FSA RFIs, EMI/CASP documentation, policies and procedures), including structuring input requests, reviewing contributions from cross‑functional teams, and maintaining clear evidence and versioning.
- Take primary ownership of one or more CASP‑ or MiCA‑related documentation domains, working closely with Regulatory Legal and external counsel.
- Conduct and synthesize legal and regulatory research on new or evolving EU and Finnish requirements affecting PIE (e.g., MiCA, AMLR/AMLD, DAC8/CARF, DORA) and draft concise internal memos, decision notes or implementation proposals for the EU MLRO and Regulatory Legal team.
- Help draft, update and localize internal policies, procedures and manuals relevant to PIE’s obligations (e.g., KYC/EDD, transaction and blockchain monitoring, sanctions, governance and internal control, regulatory reporting), in close collaboration with the global Compliance Operations and Risk Governance & Oversight teams.
- Take structured notes and track actions from regulatory meetings, governance forums and external advisor calls; maintain central trackers; and drive follow‑ups to ensure that commitments made to regulators and senior management are clearly documented, owned and completed.
- Support regulatory change management by monitoring relevant EU/EEA and Finnish developments, updating trackers and documentation, and coordinating implementation work across Compliance, Legal, Product, Operations, Finance and other stakeholders.
- Act as a senior coordination point for EU‑related regulatory and compliance workstreams helping to prioritize, sequence and de‑risk the work in partnership with the EU MLRO and global teams.
Requirements
### About you
- Has approximately 4–7 years of relevant experience in a legal, regulatory or compliance role in financial services, fintech, crypto or a related advisory environment (law firm, consultancy or similar), with demonstrated ownership of complex regulatory or licensing workstreams (e.g., regulatory reporting suites, license applications or maintenance, supervisory RFIs).
- Holds a degree in law, finance, economics or another relevant field and can demonstrate strong ability to interpret and work with EU and national legal/regulatory texts in English (and ideally one or more EU languages), including synthesizing multiple sources into practical guidance for business and control functions.
- Shows clear and sustained interest in crypto, blockchain, payments and financial innovation, and can articulate how current and upcoming EU/EEA rules (e.g., MiCA, AMLR, DAC8, DORA) intersect with PIE’s activities and risk profile.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of producing structured notes, memos, regulatory documentation and decision materials tailored to different audiences (from internal stakeholders to artifacts that may be shared with regulators or auditors).
- Has strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing multiple deadlines, documentation sets and data sources across entities and jurisdictions in support of regulatory filings and legal/compliance documentation. Comfortable building and maintaining trackers and calendars that others rely on.
- Is comfortable working in a remote‑first, international environment, collaborating across time zones with Compliance, Legal, Product, Operations, Finance, Risk and external advisors; able to manage ambiguity and maintain calm, structured execution under time pressure.
- Brings a proactive, ownership‑oriented mindset: willing to roll up their sleeves, ask sharp questions, identify gaps in our EU documentation and processes, and help design scalable, exam‑ready solutions that make the PIE compliance function more effective over time.
